Jailbreaking

It sounds illegal. But it's not.

I'm talking about jailbreaking the iPhone 4. (See article here)

"jailbreaking" literally means "freeing it from the limitations imposed on it by AT&T (service provider) and Apple." Basically it allows you to do much more with the gadget in terms of having more apps and customizing the features on your iPhone. It even allows you to use a different service provider. (Hmm, isn't there something wrong with the iPhone then if everybody wants to add all these additional items?)

However, once you decide to jailbreak, it means that your warranty is void.

And lets face it. With Apple products, you really need the warranty because when that fancy gadget is broken (and it will, eventually - thanks to the faulty technology or your clumsy hands)...that warranty will come in handy. It'll be expensive to fix.

Are Apple users ever gonna see through the fog that is Apple's marketing ploy? Technology is ever evolving, it's true. But shouldn't Apple decide to put out a gadget that has all the amenities you need and will last for at least 3-5 years?

Take the iPad for example. Really, what is it for? Besides making your pictures and videos look pretty, it really has no use because there are no USB ports so you can't transfer your files or expand its memory capabilities. Plus, it's known to be bad for your posture as well.

Now i've opened a new can of worms! I am not completely rejecting Apple - in fact I used to have a Mac and know my way around it very well, I also own an iPod nano which I love to bits - I just detest their marketing strategy. It's clever, but dishonest.
