Spice Market

I'm gonna jump on the Old Spice Commercial bandwagon. It all began here; as Old Spice tries to rebrand itself with a fresh new look:

If you were in the U.S., you'd know that this all started off during Superbowl Sunday February 7, 2010. The Superbowl is when sports and...advertising enthusiasts come together for one day. Advertisers pay a whole lot to make sure their slot goes on at this time. That's when they are able to make the most impact.

Anyway I digress. Recently, Old Spice has started a Twitter/Youtube account where the commercial "mascot" would respond to tweets in a video format. Brilliant! Engaging and completely hilarious, as well as appeals greatly to the youth. It also started spurring parody videos and increased the hype even more. (See here and here)

Here is one amusing example of the marketing phenomenon:

Alas, all good things come to an end. Old Spice decides to stop the twitter-youtube phenomena because it is just a marketing tool for them to use in their advances. I look forward to seeing/creating innovative marketing campaigns like this!
